A Post Script

A few weeks ago I wrote a very optimistic blog about the excessive growth and materialism our country is so enamored with. While listening to the radio this morning on my way to work I heard multiple reporters with somber voices discussing our tanking economy. Every week there are 500,000+ new jobless claims, many big companies are announcing layoffs in the 10's of thousands, and today the big story seems to be the drop in the GDP by 3.8%. My response to this news is, "no shit". I just can't seem to wrap my head around the idea that if we aren't making newer, bigger, shinier things, we are doing something wrong. Did all of these big companies really think that people would keep buying more and more houses, cars, and other various things that they already have several of? I say a little decrease in the economy is great...maybe it will curb our appetite for crap we don't need (and I am just as guilty as the next guy when it comes to buying crap I don't need, just ask Marie). Anyhow, I just wanted to air my thoughts out after listening to the news this morning.

Yeah, maybe they'll stop building more and more Walmarts and Borders and Starbucks and Applebees and Targets and etc and etc and Circuit City's (Oh I guess we proved the point with this one, maybe the others will learn). NO MORE BUILDING MORE CRAP. We are not buying anymore of it. That means you too Adam. MP

the only thing i still "need" is a bigger place to live. seriously i have our bills, our answering machine, our laptops, the thermal printer all within inches of the kitchen sink because there is literally no where else to put all this stuff. I have my printer next to me on the floor on a makeshift table that supposed to be patio furniture for crying out loud!

plus all my crap keeps getting splattered with kitchen sink water.

It's, time to move. I need a yard. I want Jesse back. I want my dresser out of our closet. I want more space to store our batroom towels. Morgan needs somewehre to put her clothes.
